Bed time

She loves our bed, loves!  She gets all snuggled into our pillows and then pulls the covers up over her legs.  She just giggles and gets comfy.  When those little hands go behind her head, like she’s laying on a beach in Mexico, she’s ready to snuggle.

Easter

It was a beautiful day, we got up, went to church and headed to Grammy’s house.  We dyed eggs, decorated eggs, hunted eggs, and ate way too much food! I tried a new coffee cake recipe that is worth sharing, and I'll post it soon!  So many pictures to post...these are just a handful.  Sadly, we didn't get a family picture, until the next family gathering.
She's interested in the purple grass in the basket..nothing else
we're supposed to be decorating eggs, Josie's chewing on the decorations

"ohhhhh"
going on a walk with Grammy

still looking for more eggs or rocks, they're relatively the same shape

Florida

I had been looking forward to this vacation for a couple of months!  Warm weather, my in-laws and relaxation…just what I wanted (not needed).  I kept telling Josie we were going on an airplane to see Mimi and Grandpa and I really think she understood.  She was so good on the plane, listened to music from the music class we take, and watched Elmo.  We got her these kid headphones and she kept them on most of the time, surprisingly.

Mimi picked us up and we were on our way to see grandpa.  It was gorgeous, sunny and thankfully Josie took a little nap on the car ride home.  She doesn’t sleep on the plane because she needed to make friends with all the passengers around us….our little social butterfly!

We walked to the pool every day and Josie is a fish!  We have been taking swimming lessons and my goodness all she wanted to do was swim and jump in from the side and “tick-tock, tick-tock”.  It’s this little song that our teacher sings and each parent “tick-tocks” their child from side to side and then we “choo, choo” by throwing them up in the air.  She loved it and I really wish our pools were open here…another 7 weeks!  We went on walks around the neighborhood, saw Florida animals at the Homosassa Spring Park, ate ice cream at all times of the day courtesy of Grandpa.  Josie also experiences the beach for the first time.  She loved it, running around in the water and sand for 2 hours.  It was so fun.  Kyle and Frank got in 4 rounds of golf and Randy and I got in some shopping.  It was a wonderful trip and sooooo hard to leave.  I can’t wait until July when Mimi and Grandpa come to visit…and if I told Josie now, we’d be counting down the days.  I’ll give it a few more months before I mention that.  And now for the picture parade

Sidewalk Chalk

She discovered sidewalk chalk over at Connor’s house, and while she wasn't quite sure what to do with it, she liked so I decided to get some.  Oh man…what a mess.  After dumping the box upside down and broke half of them upon hitting the concrete, we got to chalking.  She would color and then sit in it and then step on it and start over.  We were both covered in chalk.  Oh and don’t forget, we’re still in the “I put everything in my mouth” phase, so we tasted every.single.color.  It was fun and she wants to “aaak” all the time.

St. Patty's Day

I’m not really a St. Patrick’s Day girl, but Kyle was out of town and we needed something to do.  So I decided that Josie and I would head downtown to the parade.  I mentioned it to my mom and she decided to join us.  Little did I know, it’s the second largest in the US and they were expecting 250,000 people within about 20 blocks.  WHAT WAS I THINKING?  Thankfully my mom was with us because I would have turned around and gone home.  There were people everywhere, it was crazy.

We made it to the parade route and stayed for about 45 minutes.  I didn’t come prepared with sunscreen, hat, etc.  March was so warm here, and I wasn’t on top of my summer necessities yet.  It was plenty of time to see a few floats, hear the bagpipes, see some “neighs” (horses) and witness the drunks making their arrival.  That’s when we departed.  Josie seemed to have a good time, rotating between my shoulders and Grammy’s arms and the fabulous people watching.

She didn't really care for this scary creature...

I’ve learned how to undress myself

This, folks, has been a battle!  If it’s stretchy enough to get over her head or pulled over her knees, it’s off.  Could be during the day, at music class, at night after we put her to bed…and she’s just so proud of herself.  This little Houdini has even managed to get her duct taped diaper off, more than once!  I’ll be glad when this phase is over and another enters our life.  I’ve done more bedding laundry for her since this began than when she was a baby.

I keep telling her, “Mama has pants on, Dada has pants on, Josie has pants on…”  it works for a few minutes while she is distracted about the rest of us having pants on.  Pants are the main article that gets removed because the highlight is the diaper.  PURE FREEDOM!  Those two little tabs are ripped and she’s off to the races.  She’s won more battles than I have at catching her before she pees all over the floor.

Until the next phase, we’re trying to stay clothed…

So proud...

Grammy’s purse…lip gloss!

Grammy’s purse is like the jackpot, she squeals at the door when her car pulls up and can’t wait for her to set that purse down.  Josie immediately starts taking everything out, but specifically looking for the green pouch that hold her lip gloss.  Once it’s open, typically with assistance, Josie proceeds to unscrew lip glosses and gracefully puts it on her lips.  She wants to put it on Grammy, me, herself.  Oh, and then the best parts is when she says “eyes” and puts the lip gloss/stick on her eye lids as if it’s eye shadow or mascara.  She going to be a little makeup girl, I can tell already.
